A UAV survey to assist with a planning application

A topographical survey of a farm was acquired using a UAV and the results were submitted in support of a planning application.

The topographical survey shown below was produced from a photogrammetrically derived point cloud obtained by Land and Minerals Consulting Limited’s GeoX8000 Octocopter UAS (unmanned aerial system).  L&MCL has the requisite “permit to undertake aerial work” issued by the Civil Aviation Authority and the work was conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the use of UASs/UAVs.  The resultant point cloud was coordinated to Ordnance Survey grid and datum using a Geomax GPS base station and rover surveying system and the topographical survey was created using McCarthy Taylor Partnership’s Land Survey System (LSS) software.
